My Weekend In Brighton.

A few weeks ago, back in July, when we had some rather bright and sunny weather, I spent the weekend in Brighton. I hadn't been to Brighton for a couple of years, even though it's only an hour by train from London, so I'd forgotten how much I liked it!

The actual purpose of the visit was to attend a conference, The Entrepreneurs Bootcamp 2015, but that's another story for another day! I arrived early Friday morning, with just enough time to check into the hotel and enjoy Brighton's early morning sea air.

After I'd spent the first day at the Brighton Conference Centre, I met my partner down at the beach, next to Brighton Pier. He had decided to spend the weekend with me there and have a little holiday.... Lucky for him!! We sat on the pebbly beach and watched the waves crashing. Needless to say it was a windy day! We later went for a walk down the Lanes, with its shops, bars and restaurants and had a lovely meal.

The two following days were also enjoyable. I concentrated during the day, learning as much as I could and in the evening we had fun. On Saturday evening, we walked along Brighton Pier and had ice cream, followed by a 'posh' meal on the Sunday, at a fusion restaurant, serving a mixture of Japanese, Indian and Thai. Those of you who know me well will know just how much I like my food, especially GOOD FOOD!

Brighton is a great place to get away, with its seaside treasures and shopping in The Lanes by day and the hustle and bustle of the restaurants, bars and clubs at night. It was great to have a break, of sorts anyway, with a true change of scenery! I can't wait to go back to Brighton!

I hope you have all had a great summer, whether you have spent it at home, abroad or have had a lovely short break.

A Mind That Has Come to the Stillness of Wisdom

"A mind that has come to the stillness of wisdom shall know being, ... shall know what it is to love. Love is neither personal nor impersonal. Love is love, not to be defined or described by the mind as exclusive or inclusive. Love is its own eternity; it is the real, the supreme, the immeasurable."

Oprah Winfrey on Letting Go and Surrendering

Thoughts become reality.

Oprah talks about her journey in reading the book 'The Colour Purple', her strong desire to be in the film of the same title and how the Universe enabled this to come to pass.

She explains when you have done everything you can to achieve your goals and you can do no more, then surrender to the universe, 'give it up to the flow' and it will come to pass.

God always has a bigger, better plan/ hope/ dream than any of us could ever have for ourselves.

I have always admired Oprah, and the values that she stands for, so I hope you enjoy this footage as much as I do. Feel inspired......

Amy's Birthday at Street Feast, Dalston, London

Yesterday evening I went with my cousins and some friends to Street Feast in Dalston, East London to celebrate my Cousin Amy's birthday.

There was an eclectic mix of food and drink from many different cultures. The rum cocktails, wine and cider were great! Honestly the food was EPIC!
Such a variety of cultures represented under one roof from Jerk chicken, Indian Street food, Mexican Tacos, American sliders to the Japanese steamed gyoza, pulled pork and brisket and crab and lobster stall!!

My favourites were the steamed chicken gyoza - so tasty!!! ...... AND the shrimp 'YUM BUNS'. These had the yummy green sauce I first had in a trip to Trinidad several years ago and they were cooked to perfection. What I wouldn't give for one of those now.... the morning after!!

The food is all of such a high quality, so delicious and even if you spend a few pounds, and it's quite reasonably priced, it's a great evening out. The atmosphere is buzzing, but chilled at the same time. It's on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in August, so check it out. You'd be crazy to miss it. Last night was my first visit, but I know I'll be back before August is out!!

The family and friends had a great time last night. We ate to capacity, but in a dignified manner (smile), drank some refreshing tipple and were, quite frankly, fairly merry.
Today, we are assembling at Amy's house for round two of celebrating, eating and drinking! There's no substitute for having a loyal and loving family.

Happy Birthday Amy!! I love you lots!! xx

There are many benefits to listening, but the greatest benefit is that when you truly listen to someone, you give them your full undivided attention, paying them the respect they deserve as a human being, giving them your understanding, as well as learning something new.

True Friendship

Today I met my friend for lunch. He's one of my best friends, more like my little brother.
We first became friends when I was seventeen. He was sixteen and we went to affiliated, neighbouring schools and had a mutual friend.

When we first met, I had no idea that he would become such an important person in my life. It still seem strange that such a random group could lead to such a friendship, but I'm so glad it has!!

We've been friends through A Levels, University, even though we were not at the same establishment and throughout our adult lives. We have have spent many hours talking, sharing are achievements and our woes. We have spent many days hanging out, clubbing and recovering, all the while sharing our lives.

He is happily married to a lovely, strong lady and has two beautiful girls. He moved to the states some years ago, having excelled academically and has done well in his career. He has even just written a book, but you will hear more of that another time!!

I miss him dearly, but he visits at least yearly and always makes the time to meet and catch up with me. He has helped to shape me as a person and he has influenced my life for the better.

Our true friends are to be cherished and appreciated, as come what may, they are always in our lives to support us, encourage us and help us find our way. There is no substitute for a true, loyal friend.

A, I am eternally grateful that you are part of my life.

Much love,

Shaleza
