Be Happy - But How?

"Do not worry; be happy" the famous Bobby McFerrin lyrics reflect the desires of most of the people. Every parent wants happiness for their children, every good friend wants their friends to be happy. Every pet owner wants their pet to be happy.

Even the constitution of United States says that "Every man has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". The common message in all the above words is that happiness is a desirable state of life.

The need for happiness is in everyone. A majority of the people work hard in their life - so that they can make their family happy and comfortable. The wife works hard to keep her children happy. The husband works hard to earn more money for the happiness of his family and himself. We all in some way strive and struggle for money, health, fame and power not for our own sake but for the supposed happiness they may bring.

But somehow most of us are not at all happy. The suicide rate in the world is increasing; medicines related to depression are multimillion dollar business. If we buy a new car or get a promotion or succeed in our efforts to lose weight, we feel great for a while. But after sometimes we feel numb again. Here is some advice for you to be happy.

Try to live in the present
There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of your will. Most of us worry too much about the future, future is not in our hands but the present time is. The secret of happiness is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or expect troubles, but to live in the present moment and to live it wisely and sincerely. Your motto should be to make today a better yesterday. Train yourself to be happy live moment by moment. Cherish what you have and be content.

Smile a lot
Each day is full of endless possibilities! Start your day with a smile. You are in control of your feelings and thoughts---everyday keep them positive and be progressive in your approach. When you see your-self, in a mirror smile to yourself. A smile can do wonders to you and to others (but please be careful while smiling to strangers or you can end up in trouble).

Never Compare yourself
"Mirror mirror on the wall who is the prettiest of them all" this quote looks good in movies and fairytale books. In reality--never compare yourself to others, you are you and they are they. They have their own shortcomings and talents and you have your own. No two people can be alike, be satisfied with your features, looks, eye colors, hand and feet.

Forgive past hurts and mistakes
If you are harboring bitterness towards another human being because of past hurts, choose to forgive and move on. The harm was their fault. But allowing it to impact you today is yours. Learn to forget and forgive. If a person has hurt you forgive him/her but do keep your distance. A wise person never gets hurt from the same source.

Be satisfied with what you have
Nothing seems to be quite enough for most of us, as others appear to have more. Our desires to have more keep increasing. We try to find happiness in an outside source while happiness lies within.
Train yourself to be happy for no apparent reason. Be satisfied and feel content with what you have. Read jokes and success stories. If you see other people having more than you-- then be happy for them and also be happy with what you have. Remember they are they and you are you.

Keep yourself groomed and clean
By nature human are clean, a clean room can do wonder for us, so put effort in cleaning your house, room, office and bedroom. Daily take a bath, pamper yourself with a good shampoo, or soap. Take your time to dress up, wear things for yourself. Keep yourself happy by respecting yourself.

Never consider yourself to be failure
Never consider yourself to be a failure you are no one to judge yourself or others. Try to develop your personality by having positive thoughts and attitude. Keep a distance from people in your school, college or workplace, as too much mingling can raise expectations and when others hurt you, you will start considering yourself a failure.

Be kind
Be kind to all living creatures, feed the birds and water the plants. Do volunteer work with people or animals that are in need. When we help others we feel satisfied and happy.

Work hard
Whatever you do work hard, put effort and energy in whatever you are doing, work hard for a better tomorrow.
